Ascension St. Vincent has achieved a monumental milestone in healthcare excellence, securing three coveted spots on the inaugural 2026 Forbes "Top Hospitals by State" list. Out of thousands of healthcare facilities evaluated across the United States, only 253 achieved an overall 5-star rating, placing a pair of Ascension St. Vincent's winning facilities in the top tier of healthcare nationwide.
In Central Indiana, Ascension St. Vincent Fishers and the Ascension St. Vincent Heart Center in Carmel swept the Indianapolis metropolitan area, claiming two of the only seven 5-star overall ratings awarded across the entire state. Further south, Ascension St. Vincent Evansville solidified the network's statewide success by distinguishing itself as the only hospital in the Evansville area to achieve a spot on the prestigious list.
Rather than using subjective popularity metrics or patient votes, the Forbes methodology sets an incredibly high bar rooted in transparency. Forbes partnered with data experts to conduct a rigorous analysis of national data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), evaluating hospitals across four demanding core pillars:
Clinical Outcomes: Heavy statistical weight was placed on quantifiable metrics, including low patient mortality and low readmission rates, proving success in life-saving care and long-term recovery.
Adherence to Best Practices: Facilities demonstrated consistent safety compliance and evidence-based care delivery, ensuring patients receive the safest and most advanced treatments available.
Value of Care: The evaluation highlighted practical, demonstrable efficiency and effectiveness in treating patients to ensure high-value health services that positively impact the community.
Patient Experience: Rooted in direct feedback, this metric reflects exceptional patient satisfaction, clear communication, and a high-quality healing environment.
By excelling across all four pillars, Ascension St. Vincent's three recognized institutions continue to lead by example, setting a new statewide benchmark for modern healthcare delivery.
