Occupational Employment and Wages in Warner Robins, GA — May 2024

Workers in the Warner Robins, GA Metropolitan Statistical Area had an average (mean) hourly wage of $27.80 in May 2024, compared to the nationwide average of $32.66, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Regional Commissioner Victoria G. Lee noted that higher paying major occupational groups included management ($55.06), architecture and engineering ($48.02), and computer and mathematical ($43.62). Lower paying occupational groups included food preparation and serving related ($13.46), personal care and service ($14.73), and building and grounds cleaning and maintenance ($16.36). Business and financial operations occupations accounted for 11.4 percent of Warner Robins area employment, followed by food preparation and serving related occupations (11.3 percent). Major occupational groups on the lower end of local employment included legal (0.3 percent); arts, design, entertainment, sports, and media (0.6 percent); and life, physical, and social science (0.7 percent).

One occupational group-business and financial operations-was chosen to illustrate the diversity of data available for any of the 22 major occupational categories. Warner Robins had 8,630 jobs in business and financial operations, accounting for 11.4 percent of local area employment, compared to the 6.7-percent share nationally. The average hourly wage for this occupational group locally was $43.16, compared to the national wage of $45.04.

Some of the larger detailed occupations within the business and financial operations group included logisticians (1,640), management analysts (660), and buyers and purchasing agents (570). Among the higher paying jobs in this group were personal financial advisors ($56.38), project management specialists ($51.91), and management analysts ($50.35). At the lower end of the wage scale were tax preparers ($19.50). Location quotients allow us to explore the occupational make-up of a metropolitan area by comparing the composition of jobs in an area relative to the national average. (See table 1.) For example, a location quotient of 2.00 indicates that an occupation accounts for twice the share of employment in the area than it does nationally. In the Warner Robins area, above-average concentrations of employment were found in many of the occupations within the business and financial operations group. For instance, logisticians were employed at 14.13 times the national rate in Warner Robins, and buyers and purchasing agents, at 2.36 times the U.S. average. Human resources specialists had a location quotient of 1.01 in Warner Robins, indicating that this particular occupation's local and national employment shares were similar.
