New Patriotic Mural Unveiled at CubeSmart in Lebanon Celebrates 250 Years of American History

A new large-scale mural at the new CubeSmart, located at the corner of North 9th Street and Maple St in Lebanon, is bringing American history to life while celebrating the nation's upcoming 250th anniversary.

The mural will be unveiled during a ceremony on July 2 at 2:00 PM. The artist, along with other dignitaries, will offer remarks. The program is open to the public.

Created by local artist Andrew Zidik, the mural tells the story of America through a series of iconic images and historical moments that span from the nation's founding to its greatest achievements. Beginning on the left with the Constitution and George Washington crossing the Delaware, the mural continues through portraits of the Statue of Liberty, Abraham Lincoln, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., with the Emancipation Proclamation serving as a backdrop.

The journey continues with Lewis and Clark alongside Sacagawea, followed by the Wright Brothers' historic first flight. The mural then transitions to the moon landing before culminating in a soaring bald eagle carrying the American flag across the sky, symbolizing the enduring spirit of the United States.

For Zidik, the project is far more than a work of art. "This mural means a great deal to me personally," said Zidik. "I grew up around artwork and have dreamed of creating a mural of this size in Lebanon for a very long time. To be asked to create something like this in my hometown is truly humbling."

The artist completed approximately 98 percent of the mural using spray paint, developing the piece in his own distinct style while paying tribute to America's history and ideals. Throughout the project, Zidik was inspired by the community's response through frequent visits to watch the progress and words of encouragement.

Zidik expressed special appreciation to Aaron Camara, owner of the CubeSmart property, for supporting the project and recognizing the value public art can bring to the community. "Projects like this help create opportunities for artists and show how public art can inspire people and transform a space."

The mural now stands as both a tribute to America's past and a celebration of Lebanon's future-honoring history, community, hard work, and the power of art to bring people together.
