Livestock futures drop as cash sales weaken and pork supplies surge.

Live Cattle futures traded lower as cash sales fell $1 in the North and $5 in the South, despite an uptick in box prices. The Dec contract dropped $2 to $222.12, remaining in its recent channel. Feeder Cattle futures also faced pressure, with the Nov contract falling $2.50 to $329.47, as ice disrupted slaughter operations in Kansas packing plants. Lean Hog futures tested new lows following a USDA cold storage report showing a surge in pork supplies, bringing the Dec contract down $0.72 to $68.30 amid a lack of buyer interest.
