In the latest episode of Mergermarket's Dealcast: The M&A Podcast, titled "How to Get Deals Through Antitrust Review in the Current Environment," Fried Frank Washington, DC-based antitrust and competition partner Kathy O'Neill, is interviewed by Mergermarket senior US regulatory reporter Serafina Smith to discuss best practices to get deals through antitrust review during the second Trump administration.

Drawing on her nearly 16 years of experience in the US Department of Justice (DOJ)'s Antitrust Division, where she served as the most senior career official overseeing all civil antitrust enforcement, Kathy shares that early and proactive interactions with the US antitrust agencies, including the DOJ and Federal Trade Commission, can lead to smoother antitrust review, pointing to two recent examples where constructive engagement on the merits led to clearance of deals that may otherwise have been subjected to extended review.

Kathy and Serafina also discuss the agencies' return to accepting merger remedies-especially structural relief-and the uptick of standalone enforcement by state attorneys general.
