State Board approves new campus master plan

At the April meeting in Moscow, the Idaho State Board of Education approved the university's 10-year Campus Master Plan.

"Receiving approval by the board is a significant milestone in finalizing this important strategic framework that emphasizes modernization, renovation and more efficient use of space." said Annie Hightower, chief operating officer who participated in the presentation to the board.

Acknowledging enrollment growth, expanded research activity and expectations for workforce development, innovation and facility access, the plan is organized around three key themes: known needs of the university; what realistically can be accomplished; and remaining flexible as conditions change.

The plan is a culmination of two and a half years of planning and collaboration that reflects input from more than 300 stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, community members and agency partners.

"This level of engagement speaks to our team's strong commitment to a transparent, well-engaged approach that builds trust and support for campus and community needs," said Drew Alexander, associate vice president for campus operations.

Boise State will now work with the City of Boise to align the plan with local land use, zoning requirements and the Blueprint Boise comprehensive plan. This collaboration is a beneficial next step to support coordinated planning, uphold regulatory requirements, and advance development that complements the surrounding community priorities. The full plan is available on the Campus Operations website.
