Calling All Hawks!

It's here - Family and Alumni Weekend will be from Sept. 25-28 on campus, the annual opportunity for Hawks and Hawk families to come back to the nest to reconnect with both classmates and with campus.

The annual celebration is headlined by Friday evening's carnival-style tailgate, which starts at 5 p.m. in the area around Bourke Field and includes face painting, games, an obstacle course, photo opportunities from Photobooth by HK, a beer garden, meals and Melt Box KC's ice cream truck. All against the backdrop of the men's and women's soccer teams taking on the University of Illinois Springfield.

Saturday morning, all are invited to join instructor Maribeth Eiken for Yoga on the Pitch at 9 a.m. on Bourke Field. The event benefits the Rockhurst University softball program and includes refreshments (but bring your own yoga mat).

Starting at 11 a.m. guests for the weekend can also get a tour of campus led by someone who knows it well - President Sandra Cassady, Ph.D., and student ambassadors will lead tours of Rockhurst and what has changed. Also scheduled is a women's lacrosse alumni scrimmage.

That night, Hawks from years past will have their reunions, with gatherings for different years, decades and programs scheduled at different sites. For family guests of current students and others, the Student Activities Board is sponsoring an event featuring Magic Scott.

The weekend will also include the official welcoming of the class of 1975 into the society of Golden Hawks, with a Thursday night cocktail hour and a barbecue party on Friday.
