Celebrate Earth Day 2026 with the City of Norman

April 22, 2026

The City of Norman wishes residents a wonderful Earth Day and invites everyone to weekend celebratory activities during the 2026 Earth Day Festival on April 26 in Reaves Park, 2501 S. Jenkins. The festival will take place from noon to 5 p.m. and all are welcome.

"Please join us in making a lasting impact at Norman's 2026 Earth Day Festival - an event dedicated to sustainability, education, and community engagement," said Michele Loudenback, Manager of the Division of Environmental Resilience & Sustainability. "We look forward to bringing together families, educators, activists, and neighbors who care about our planet."

More than 50 vendors and educational booths will be on site, Loudenback said, and the event will also include live music, food and beverages. Festival goers can check out a schedule of events or a festival map at Normanok.gov/media/23578.

"In addition to educational booths, folks will be able to check out a street sweeper and electric bus, in a small touch-a-truck area," Loudenback said. "Folks will be able to take home a bag of compost. Costumed characters from Jedi OKC will be around for photos, and the Water's Worth It Poster Contest and James O. Harp Environmental Recognition awards will be presented. It's going to be an exciting day!"

The Water's Worth it Poster Contest winner is Andela Naeva, a third grader from Lincoln Elementary and member of Diane Wood's class; the James O. Harp Award Winner is Mary Sallee. Their awards will be presented at 12:30 p.m.

This year's festival theme is "The Power is in Our Hands" and emphasizes that the strength to protect the environment lies in collective, hands-on action across communities. The festival is one of many events planned in observing Green Norman Eco-Bration, happening through May.
