City Council Makes Proclamation for Waste and Recycling Workers Week

From June 15-20, municipalities across the nation are recognizing and celebrating the dedicated solid waste staff members as part of Waste and Recycling Workers Week. On Tuesday, June 16, Solid Waste Services Director Shikha Gupta spoke before the City council ahead of Mayor Janet Cowell's proclamation of the week:

"Mayor and Council, today we recognize National Garbage and Recycling Workers Day and honor the dedicated men and women of Raleigh Solid Waste Services," Gupta said. "Every day, often before most of us are awake and in all types of weather, they work tirelessly to keep our neighborhoods clean, protect public health, and support Raleigh's quality of life. Their commitment, professionalism, and service touch every resident and business in our city. On behalf of the City of Raleigh, we extend our sincere gratitude and appreciation for everything they do to make Raleigh a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable community."
