Somerville, NJ, Dec. 18, 2025 - Medicor Cardiology, a partner practice of RWJBarnabas Health, has made a $1 million commitment to Somerset Health Care Foundation, the fundraising arm of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) Somerset. The gift will support cardiology services at the RWJBarnabas Health hospital.

Over the past 40 years, Medicor Cardiology has donated nearly $2 million to support the hospital's growth and expansion.

In recognition of the group's long-standing support, RWJUH Somerset has named the waiting areas of its main lobby in honor of Medicor Cardiology.

"Their legacy of giving has helped us transform our hospital campus and advance the care we provide to our community," said Josh Kalafer, chair, Somerset Health Care Foundation Board of Trustees. "We are so appreciative of their continued support of our mission to build a healthier New Jersey."

Established in 1977, Medicor Cardiology has offices in Bridgewater and Hillsborough. The group provided a pace-setting gift to support the building of RWJUH Somerset's Emergency Department in 2005. Their contributions have also supported the construction of the hospital's Edward and Anita Hogan Neuroscience Pavilion in 2010; renovations to its Geriatrics Unit, Eating Disorders Unit and Same Day Surgery Unit and a 5-year cardiology services expansion project that was completed in 2023. In addition, they have sponsored fundraising events coordinated by Somerset Health Care Foundation.

Rachana Kulkarni, MD, president of Medicor Cardiology, noted, "This contribution is more than a financial commitment. It is a statement of belief - in the power of medicine, in the strength of community and in a future where exceptional cardiovascular care is accessible for every patient we serve. We believe that the future of health care lies in partnership-between physicians and hospitals, between science and humanity and between today's needs and tomorrow's possibilities. Today marks not an ending, but a beginning to build a cardiovascular program that will lead with excellence, innovate with purpose and serve generations to come."

"Aside from their financial support, Medicor Cardiology has been a tremendous partner in so many ways," said Deirdre Blaus, Chief Administrative Officer, RWJUH Somerset. "Their physicians have held numerous leadership roles in our organization and have been instrumental in growing our nationally recognized cardiology program. They also give their time to conduct community health education programs and screenings throughout the year. Generations of families throughout Central New Jersey have benefited from their generosity and we are immensely grateful."
