Janesville, Apr 23 - Fifteen students from Mankato Area High School toured Guardian Energy on Aprill 22 to learn about the ethanol production process.
"It was a pleasure to host students from Mankato Area High School. These tours provide an excellent opportunity to demonstrate our ethanol production process and highlight our valuable co-products. These tours also allow us to impart to students the crucial role our industry plays in supporting rural economies, reducing carbon emissions, reducing prices at the pump and advancing energy independence," said Jeanne McCaherty, CEO of Guardian Energy.
During the tour, the students learned about the various stages of ethanol production such as incoming grain grading and handling, fermentation, grain storage, ethanol storage and shipment as well as dried distillers grains with solubles production and storage.
Additionally, the students learned about Minnesota's ethanol industry and potential career opportunities. The students that participated in the tour were from grades nine to 12.
The tour was organized by the Minnesota Bio-Fuels Association (MN Bio-Fuels). Guardian Energy is a member of MN Bio-Fuels.
Robin Tidd, Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources teacher at Mankato Area High School, accompanied her students for the tour.
"My students learned about career opportunities available near Mankato in the ethanol industry. They also gained real-world experience in how plants are used for more, especially in fuel production. Finally, my students have a better understanding of the importance of biofuels," she said.
