Cathedral City Fire & EMS Reaches Significant Milestone in Accreditation Process

The Cathedral City Fire & EMS Department has reached a significant milestone in its pursuit of accreditation through the Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE). Peer assessors from the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) conducted a comprehensive four-day site visit taking place January 5-9. During their site visit the peer assessors meticulously evaluated the department in 11 categories, 250 performance indicators and 96 metrics. Following their thorough evaluation, the peer assessors announced their recommendation for Cathedral City Fire & EMS to receive CFAI accreditation. The Official presentation by the commission will take place in Orlando Florida the week of March 31, 2025.

This recommendation reflects the department's commitment to excellence in fire and emergency services. Fire chief Michael Contreras expressed his enthusiasm about the announcement.

Fire chief Michael Contreras said, "This recommendation is a testament to the high level of service Cathedral City Fire and EMS provides to our community. It also underscores the hard work and dedication of the men and women of our department."

Chief Contreras also extended his gratitude to the Cathedral City Council and City Manager Charlie McClendon for their unwavering support throughout this process.

CFAI accreditation is recognized as a mark of excellence in the fire service industry, requiring departments to demonstrate compliance with rigorous standards and continuous improvement. This recommendation brings Cathedral City Fire & EMS closer to achieving full accreditation, further solidifying its commitment to providing exceptional service to the community.
