Brown Announces New Advanced Manufacturing Training Equipment at Lorain County Community College

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced a $500,000 investment in Lorain County Community College to provide state-of-the-art training and equipment for students in the Microelectronic Manufacturing degree track, and in the Manufacturing Electronics and Rework Institute for Training laboratory. The new equipment will help prepare students with hands-on training opportunities relevant to a broad range of advanced manufacturing careers, including the growing semiconductor chip industry, and prepare them for high-demand jobs in the industry.

"Ohio students and workers are going to lead in the industries of the future, whether they're building chips at Intel in Licking County or building the infrastructure of tomorrow across our state," said Brown. "With this investment at Lorain County Community College, we are expanding opportunities for Ohioans to get the training they need to get a good paying job, where they can build a life here in Ohio and help further our state's leadership in these crucial growing industries."

The National Institute of Standards and Technology is awarding this investment, which Brown secured through Congressionally Directed Spending.
