Bloom Energy (BE) stock closed at $218.50 on October 27, 2026, down 26.1% from its close on October 6. A drop of that size in three weeks can look like a chance to buy a fast-growing company for less, and Bloom has handed buyers that opportunity before. So what happened to buyers who stepped in after its earlier sharp falls?
Buyers Were Ahead After Half Of Bloom Energy's Falls
Since July 2018, Bloom stock has lost more than 30% within six weeks on 16 occasions. Out of the 14 falls with a full year of trading history behind them, the stock finished higher a year later in seven cases. Those 14 instances produced a median gain of just 0.5% over the following year. The falls of December 2025 and July 2026 are less than a year old, making them too soon to judge. Individual results swung widely around that median. Following the three most recent falls with a full year behind them, which occurred in February 2024, September 2024 and April 2025, the stock finished at least 171% higher.
Buyers usually saw a lower price at some point during the subsequent year. In the median case, the stock recorded a lowest close that sat 37.1% below its close on the day the initial drop first passed 30%. The best price during that year reached a median 72.9% above that same close. Buyers waited a median of 225 days, or about seven months, to see that high.

How Fast Is Bloom Energy Growing, At What Price?
Bloom generated $1.24 billion in revenue during fiscal Q3 2026, the quarter ended September 30, up 138.1% from a year earlier. Management also raised its full-year revenue outlook for the third time in fiscal 2026. Executives now expect $4.5 billion at the midpoint, up from the $4.05 billion they projected in July.
Profit grew faster than sales. Bloom reported an operating margin of 18.2% in that quarter, compared with 1.5% in the same quarter a year earlier. Over the twelve months to September 30, its operating margin stood at 14.8%. That marks the highest level at any quarter end in our records, which start in late 2017.
That growth comes at a high price. Based on the October 27 close, Bloom stock traded at 124.3 times its earnings over the past twelve months, compared with 22.6 times for the S&P 500.
Bloom Energy's Operations Used Cash In Fiscal Q3 2026
While Bloom reported net income of $250 million in the quarter, its operations used $27 million of cash, after bringing in cash the quarter before. On the October 22 call, management said a rise in working capital, mainly inventory, contract assets and receivables, more than offset the profit. Billing follows contract milestones, management added, so cash can arrive in a later quarter than the revenue.
The cash matters more than usual for Bloom, which is spending heavily on new capacity. The company spent $153 million in the quarter on machinery and production capacity at its Fremont and Newark facilities. Management says it funds that investment from operations over the year, with $231 million spent so far in fiscal 2026. For the first nine months of fiscal 2026, free cash flow was still positive at $42 million, management said.
If you buy now, you are betting that a fast-growing, profitable Bloom will have a year like the ones following its three most recent falls with a full year behind them, rather than the ones that left half of past buyers lower. You are also accepting the further fall that past buyers usually saw within a year. Bloom's cash from operations will be the number to watch in its next report, expected in February 2027.
