This week on New Mexico in Focus, two Republican primary candidates make their case to be the next governor of New Mexico.
Small business owner and charter school advocate Doug Turner tells Host Nash Jones why public education reform is near the top of his priority list. Then, cannabis CEO and former state cabinet secretary Duke Rodriguez talks to politics correspondent Gwyneth Doland about healthcare and his campaign's flagging support. Former Rio Rancho mayor Gregg Hull cancelled his scheduled interview.
A recent poll published by the Albuquerque Journal found that Hull leads the pack, while a huge number of proven Republican and independent voters remain undecided. Pollster Brian Sanderoff spoke with Nash about the latest numbers.
Greg Payne, a former Republican state representative, sits down with Nash and helps to handicap the contest.
NMiF airs on NMPBS 5.1 (KNME HD) on Friday, May 8, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, May 10 at 7 a.m. and streaming on the PBS video app. Involved, informed, in-depth media: watch New Mexico in Focus again online shortly thereafter.
