PORTLAND, OR - In the latest proof of Christine Drazan's allegiance to anti-abortion extremism, her campaign is being bankrolled by the radical anti-abortion group Oregon Right to Life. The extremist group made a $2,000 in-kind contribution to Drazan's campaign late last week after endorsing her candidacy in March.
Some of Oregon Right to Life's most extreme stances include opposing abortion even in cases of rape, incest, or health of the mother, and opposing IVF and other forms of contraception. Drazan shares Trump's anti-abortion stances and has bragged about her endorsement from far-right, anti-abortion extremist Alex Skarlatos on the campaign trail.
"Christine Drazan's campaign is fueled by anti-abortion extremists because they know she will stand in lockstep with them as they try to roll back abortion rights in Oregon. Women across the country have lost their lives due to the stripping away of abortion protections - women that should be alive today," said Candy Emmons, Executive Director of the Democratic Party of Oregon. "The protections we have in place here in Oregon prevent those tragedies, and at a time when the Trump Administration continues their attacks on women and reproductive rights, we need a governor who will defend our freedoms - not one whose campaign is bankrolled by a group that wants to ban abortion without exception."
