Community input sought for Hoaloha Park Adaptation Plan

The County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) invites residents to review and provide feedback on a proposed adaptation plan for Hoaloha Park in Kahului.

The plan is available for public comment now through Monday, July 16, 2025, on the project website: https://ssfm.konveio.com/hoaloha-park-adaptation-plan-public-review-draft .

In response to projected sea level rise, the Hoaloha Park Adaptation Plan outlines strategies to protect the park while maintaining current recreational and cultural uses.

The online platform allows users to register for a free account, review the plan and comment directly within the document. The site also includes previously conducted technical summaries, usage reports and public meeting summaries for review.

All input submitted will be reviewed and considered for the final version of the adaptation plan.

The Hoaloha Park Adaptation Plan is the County's first adaptation plan arising out of its Beach Park Vulnerability and Adaptation Study, aimed at preparing coastal parks for the impacts of climate change.
