City of St. Petersburg to Host Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event

City of St. Petersburg to Host Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event

February 20, 2026) - The City of St. Petersburg is hosting a household hazardous waste collection event on Saturday, March 7, from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. at St. Petersburg College - Gibbs Campus (6605 5th Ave. N) to give residents the opportunity to dispose of hazardous household products that should not be placed in normal trash collection.

Residents are encouraged to bring their household hazardous waste items to the event, trained professionals will ensure the items are disposed of in a safe, environmentally-friendly manner.

The City will collect items that pose a fire hazard or environmental concern if disposed of in regular household trash. Accepted items include:

  • Antifreeze

  • Gas

  • Household chemicals

  • Oil

  • Lawn and garden chemicals

  • Mercury-containing devices

  • Paint products

  • Pool/spa products

  • Rechargeable batteries

  • Signal flares
