JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - A project upgrading pedestrian facilities in multiple locations across Jefferson City, Wardsville, Taos, and Frankenstein is scheduled to get underway next week. Planned improvements include sidewalks, curb ramps, and pavement approaches to bring them into compliance with the current standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). At their June 2025 meeting, the Missouri Department of Transportation awarded a $1,293,885.30 contract to Concrete Solution LLC to complete the project.
Starting Tuesday, July 22, crews will begin work in Taos on Cole County Route M from Firehouse Lane to east of Stoney Gap Road. As part of this project, upgrades are also planned at the following locations, but the exact schedule and order of work will be dependent on weather:
Work will require temporary closures of pedestrian facilities and intermittent closures of one lane of roadway with flaggers, as necessary. By contract, the project is scheduled for completion by Dec. 15, 2025. All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
