ROCK ISLAND, IL - Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) met with employees and labor representatives connected to the Rock Island Arsenal for a roundtable discussion on April 3, 2026, focused on workforce concerns and the future of jobs at the Arsenal.
The conversation provided an opportunity for Congressman Sorensen to hear directly from workers about the challenges facing the Arsenal and the potential impact of recent Army decisions on employees, their families, and the broader Quad Cities community.
"The hardworking men and women at Rock Island Arsenal represent the very best of our community, and the idea that workers could be asked to uproot their lives on short notice is unacceptable," said Congressman Sorensen. "It was important for me to sit down and hear directly from workers about what they're experiencing. These are dedicated public servants, many of them veterans, who deserve transparency and respect. We need to make sure any decisions made are thoughtful, transparent, and put workers and our community first."
Sorensen has been working with members of the Illinois delegation to press Army leadership for answers and accountability regarding decisions that could impact the Arsenal's workforce. He continues to call for a pause on any actions that would move jobs away from the Quad Cities and is advocating for the long-term strength and stability of the Arsenal.
