Suspect Arrested in Sag Harbor Fraud Case

On October 25th, 2024 the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI), Sag Harbor Village Police Department, US Postal Inspection Services and Suffolk District Attorney Investigators arrested Om Parkash, age 31 of Queens, for Grand Larceny 2nd (C Felony).

On July 27th, 2023 Parkash contacted the victim stating she was involved in a fraud scheme involving large amounts of money. From there, Parkash advised the victim she would have to give money to "Federal Agents" to confirm it is not associated with any criminal activity. Once the victim emptied her bank account, she was instructed to meet the "Federal Agents" at multiple locations with specific instructions on where to place the money. The victims bank advised she was a part of a possible scam and to contact police. With the thorough investigation of the New York State's BCI Unit and assistance from the Sag Harbor Village Police Department, US Postal Inspection Services and Suffolk District Attorney Investigators, the victim was brought justice.

Parkash was remanded to the Yaphank Correctional Facility awaiting his next court appearance.

Parkash impersonated a federal agent and used fear and intimidation to convince the victim to hand over money. Anyone who believes they have been a victim of a similar a scam is encouraged to contact their local law enforcement agency.
