Budding chefs across Hawaiʻi in grades 5-12 are invited to compete in the 2025 GET Local 4-H Video Cooking Contest, a statewide competition for food safety, kitchen skills, nutrition, and presentation. The youth competition is sponsored by the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa's College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resilience, the GET Local Healthy Food Systems, and the 4-H Youth Development programs.
Young people will create a 5 to 7-minute video showing the preparation of a healthy recipe featuring a locally sourced fruit, vegetable, or protein. Keiki are encouraged to explore Hawaiʻi's many locally grown plants and livestock agricultural offerings in their meal preparations.
Winners will be rewarded with an exclusive educational farm and food adventure on Oʻahu to learn more about Hawaiʻi's food systems and culinary arts.

"We are thrilled to offer this engaging contest to Hawaiʻi's keiki," said Jeff Goodwin, the Hawaiʻi 4-H coordinator. "It's a fantastic way to promote healthy eating, support local agriculture, and empower young people with essential life skills. And it's open to all keiki - no 4-H membership required."
