Automatic Recount of Assembly District 4, Seat G, Will Be Conducted on Friday, April 24, 2026

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Public Session of Canvass has concluded, and the unofficial results for the Assembly District 4 -Seat G - Midtown Anchorage race still show that Janice Park prevails over Dave Donley by a margin of less than 0.5%. As such, an automatic recount of the Assembly District 4, Seat G race will take place tomorrow, Friday, April 24th, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the MOA Election Center, located at 619 E. Ship Creek Avenue, Door D.

The recount will be open to observation by the public in a manner consistent with the orderly conduct of the recount and security of the ballots. The recount shall be limited to reviewing the electronic version of the ballot images, adjudicating those images, tabulating them, and comparing them to the original results for the District 4 race.

At tonight's Public Session of Canvass meeting, the Election Commission rejected all ballots that were not in compliance with the code. The deadline to receive mailed ballots and cures has passed.

There will be a Special Meeting of the Election Commission on Monday, April 27, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. to produce a report of the recount results for the Assembly. The Assembly will be considering the certification of both the election and the recount at their meeting on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.
