AUC Chairperson was today received in Libreville by H.E. Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, President of the Gabon

The Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, was today received in Libreville by H.E. Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, President of the #Gabon , on the margins of the opening of the 17th Annual Retreat of the AU Chairperson with AU Special Envoys and High-Level Representatives.

The Chairperson thanked President Nguema & the people of Gabon for the warm hospitality extended to the AU delegation & participants of the Retreat, commending Gabon's commitment to peace, dialogue, regional stability, & support for democratic transition processes across the continent.

The President & the Chairperson discussed Africa's evolving peace & security & humanitarian challenges, & underscored the importance of strengthening African-led mechanisms for prevention, mediation, & conflict resolution.

The 17th Retreat comes at a critical moment for the continent, providing a strategic platform to advance preventive diplomacy and collective responses to Africa's governance
