Commission welcomes high-level study group on connectivity and digital infrastructure

The European Commission, in cooperation with the Governments of France and Finland, organised a high-level study visit on secure, resilient and trusted connectivity and digital infrastructure.

Policymakers and regulators from Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Kenya, Philippines, Vietnam came to Brussels as part of a study visit to the EU.

The study visit focused on exchanges on policy frameworks for secure and trusted telecommunication infrastructure rollouts and subsea cable deployments. It also aims to demonstrate capabilities in digital infrastructure from a number of leading European companies.

In Brussels, participants met with the European Commission and the European External Action Service (EEAS) to learn more about the European Union's digital policy and international digital cooperation. In DG Connect, the participants learned about EU policy frameworks such as the legislative proposals for Digital Networks Act, cybersecurity and the EU's Submarine Cable Security Toolbox.

The programme continued in Aachen, Antwerp, Paris and Helsinki where participants met with major European tech champions and key providers of trusted connectivity and digital infrastructure solutions.

The study implements the International Digital Strategy for the European Union which, among other things, is developing an EU Tech Business Offer supporting the digital transformation of key partner countries.
