WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Don Davis (NC-01) released the following statement after voting to extend the Affordable Care Act's enhanced Premium Tax Credits to lower healthcare costs for more than 69,000 residents of North Carolina's First Congressional District facing higher insurance premiums.
"Families across eastern North Carolina and millions more nationwide are having to pay the price for Washington, D.C.'s failure to extend healthcare subsidies. When these tax credits expired, health insurance costs shot up overnight, literally on New Year's Day. These are families, our neighbors raising kids, and small business owners facing higher costs, as their budgets are being squeezed harder than ever at the beginning of this new year," said Congressman Don Davis. "The Senate must follow the House's lead and extend these subsidies so families can keep affordable coverage. We can fix what's broken and bring accountability without pulling the rug out from under so many."
