FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OLDWICK - OCTOBER 08, 2026 02:28 PM (EDT)
AM Best has affirmed the Financial Strength Rating of A (Excellent) and the Long-Term Issuer Credit Rating of "a" (Excellent) of Aetna Health Insurance Company of New York. (New York, NY). The outlook of these Credit Ratings (ratings) is stable. Concurrently, AM Best has withdrawn these ratings as the company has requested to no longer participate in AM Best's interactive rating process.

The ratings reflect Aetna Health Insurance Company of New York's balance sheet strength, which AM Best assesses as very strong, as well as its adequate operating performance, very limited business profile, appropriate enterprise risk management and support of the Aetna organization.

The rating affirmations reflect the very strong balance sheet strength assessment, which is supported by Aetna Health Insurance Company of New York's risk-adjusted capitalization being at the strongest level, as measured by Best's Capital Adequacy Ratio (BCAR). AM Best notes that the company's absolute capital and surplus is modest and was less than $12 million at the end of the second quarter of 2026. Aetna Health Insurance Company of New York had reported steady, albeit modest, underwriting and net income. While the company reported underwriting and net losses in 2025, earnings have rebounded through the first half of 2026. While net premium had risen steadily through 2024, this trend reversed beginning in 2025.

The company's business profile is considered very limited. Aetna Health Insurance Company of New York only writes small group business in the state of New York. The company has announced plans to exit this market at the end of 2026. Aetna Health Insurance Company of New York is part of the larger Aetna organization. AM Best expects Aetna to provide support to Aetna Health Insurance Company of New York should it be needed.
