MaineGeneral is pleased to recognize the new graduates of our Medical Assistant (MA) Earn to Learn program! Eight students completed the MA program with a graduation held on Friday, Aug. 14 at the Thayer Center for Health in Waterville.
Caleb York, the first of the student speakers representing the graduates, spoke to the dedication that each of his fellow graduates showed. "This course is fast paced," said York "you have to keep up with quick last-minute changes and heavy homework loads. But the encouragement and teamwork made it a lot of fun and this group of eight knew that failure was not an option."
Julia Spaulding, a fellow graduate, spoke on the importance of the program for those looking for a future that is personally and professionally rewarding. "When I saw this job pop up, I felt excited about the new possibilities. When I got it, the joy I had coming in to work was something that I hadn't felt in a while. For that opportunity, I am truly grateful."
The MaineGeneral MA program began in 2016 and has since seen over 200 medical assistants graduate from the program. The MA program is not only tuition-free but pays students during the course. Upon completion of the program and passing of the CMA exam administered by the National HealthCare Association (NHA), students have the opportunity to secure a Certified Medical Assistant position with MaineGeneral.
