Rep. Cisneros Denied Entry at Adelanto ICE Processing Center

Washington, DC- Today, Congressman Gilbert R. Cisneros, Jr. (CA-31) attempted to conduct Congressional oversight at Adelanto ICE Processing Center. Rep. Cisneros, along with Rep. Judy Chu (CA-28), Rep. Derek Tran (CA-45) and members of the CHIRLA and ACLU were denied entry and prevented from exercising their duty.

"Today, I attempted to conduct Congressional oversight at the Adelanto ICE facility. They locked the gate, ignored our calls, and denied us entry," Rep. Cisnerossaid. "At Trump's direction, ICE and DHS agents are harassing our community, questioning our neighbors, and disregarding the law by preventing us from conducting oversight. Trump is deliberately manufacturing chaos and inciting fear. I will continue to press for answers as our community is under attack."

This comes after President Donald Trump announced that he would send the National Guard to L.A. to restrict community members constitutional rights to protest.

It's important that members of the community know their rightsif approached by ICE agents or the police, regardless of their immigration status.

Rep. Cisneros is a Navy Veteran and the former Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness. He currently serves on the House Armed Services Committee, Subcommittee on Military Personnel, Subcommittee on Intelligence and Special Operations, and Appropriations Defense Subcommittee. Rep. Cisneros is a member of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and serves on its leadership team as the Freshman Representative.
