Escambia County Fire Rescue responded to a residential structure fire in the 1600 block of Arena Road on Monday, April 6, which tragically resulted in the death of one individual and two pets.
At approximately 8 p.m., Escambia County Emergency Communications received a call about a residential structure fire with one person trapped inside. ECFR crews arrived on scene to find heavy flames and smoke showing from the single-story home. Despite a rapid response and aggressive firefighting efforts by ECFR, one individual was found deceased inside the home, along with one dog and one cat.
The fire was brought under control by approximately 8:40 p.m. Due to significant damage, the home is a total loss.
Escambia County EMS, the Escambia County Sheriff's Office, and Florida Power and Light also provided assistance during the response. The incident is under investigation by the Florida Bureau of Fire, Arson and Explosives.
