Update on Suspicious Death Investigation in Canaan, New Hampshire

Concord, NH - Attorney General John M. Formella, New Hampshire State Police Colonel Mark B. Hall, and Canaan Police Department Chief Ryan Porter announce that an autopsy has been completed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of the body of William Colao, age 67, of Canaan, New Hampshire.

Following an examination today, Deputy Chief Medical Examiner Mitchell Weinberg determined that Mr. Colao suffered multiple stab wounds as well as a gunshot wound to the head. The cause of Mr. Colao's death was found to be a gunshot wound to the head, and his manner of death was homicide.

While the investigation is ongoing, there is no known threat to the general public at this time.

Additional information will be released as it becomes available while protecting the integrity of the investigation.
