Today, Netflix announced the launch date for the Danish documentary series A Friend, A Murderer , created by GODT Media.
This is the story of how a series of horrific crimes affected a rural community in Denmark and how a Danish town's close-knit community was transformed into distrust and fear. When the perpetrator is finally caught after eight years, it brings relief to the town - and to Denmark. But for Amanda, Nichlas and Kiri, it marks the beginning of their worst nightmare: the person they've feared for so long turns out to be one of their closest friends. During the trial, they realise that their former friend had planned and carried out assaults, kidnappings and murder while partying and having fun alongside them. The questions echo in their minds: Why didn't I see anything? Were we ever really friends? And can I ever trust my own judgment again?
Amanda, a former friend of the perpetrator, says: " For years, I feared the perpetrator was still out there and that I could be the next victim. When I realised it was one of my closest friends, my world shattered. I've come to realize that even the people you trust the most can hide a dark side, and that feeling safe isn't something you can always take for granted.
Parish priest Anna Helleberg Kluge says: " As a priest, I have seen how the local community was struck by fear, grief, anger and suspicion. No one knew who they could trust, and many lived with a quiet, constant fear in their everyday lives. But I have also seen small signs that the community can find its way back - that people can support one another and slowly move forward after the unimaginable.
A Friend, A Murderer will launch on Netflix on March 5, 2026
