BOEM Releases Final Environmental Impact Statement for Platform Gilda Well Stimulation Proposal Offshore California

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management today announced the availability of a final environmental impact statement evaluating DCOR, LLC's proposal to conduct well stimulation treatments, including hydraulic fracturing, on Platform Gilda, located on the Pacific Outer Continental Shelf offshore Ventura County. The final environmental impact statement analyzes the potential environmental impacts associated with authorizing proposed treatments on up to 16 existing wells as part of the operator's update to its Development and Production Plan.

The environmental impact statement, which was prepared in 28 days from the publication of the Notice of Intent pursuant to the Department of the Interior's Alternative Arrangements for NEPA Compliance During a National Energy Emergency, incorporates technical review by BOEM subject matter experts and was guided by public feedback on the scope of the analysis.

"Gold Standard Science and transparency guide every decision we make," said BOEM Acting Director Matt Giacona. "This final environmental impact statement represents a science-based evaluation that reflects the contributions of tribes, partners and community members who engaged in this process. Our responsibility is to ensure that any proposed offshore activity is reviewed thoroughly, consistently and with a clear commitment to environmental protection."

Releasing the final environmental impact statement does not approve or authorize the proposed activities. BOEM will issue a separate record of decision after reviewing the environmental and other relevant information.

Platform Gilda (Outer Continental Shelf Lease No. P0216) is located approximately 8.8 miles southwest of Ventura, California, in the Santa Barbara Channel. Installed in 1981 in approximately 205 feet of water, the platform has remained in continuous operation since its installation.
