Boca Raton, Fla., May 26, 2026 - With South Florida now ranked among the fastest growing and most important private wealth markets in the country, international law firm Cozen O'Connor today announced highly regarded estate and tax planning attorney Drew W. Barsalou has joined its award winning Private Client, Trusts and Estates practice. Barsalou, who collaborates with clients, accountants, financial advisers, and attorneys to develop comprehensive, tax-efficient estate and asset protection plans for high net worth individuals, joins the firm as a member and will work out of its Boca Raton office.
Barsalou comes to the firm from Gunster, Yoakley & Stewart and concentrates his practice on sophisticated estate and tax planning for high net worth families - guiding clients from initial consultation through the execution of a wide range of estate planning documents.
"South Florida has become one of the country's leading private wealth markets, and Drew's addition reflects our continued investment in the region and in the growth of our national private client platform," said Lester E. Lipschutz, co-chair of Cozen O'Connor's Private Client, Trusts and Estates practice. "Tax issues obviously play an integral role in all levels of estate planning and implementation and bringing in an experienced private wealth attorney of Drew's caliber is a major get - both for our private client services clients and our Boca Raton office. I'm pleased to welcome him to our practice and to Cozen O'Connor."
Barsalou regularly designs and drafts a wide range of estate planning documents, including wills, health care advance directives, living wills, durable powers of attorney, disclaimer planning documents, decanting documents, as well as various trusts, including revocable trusts, irrevocable life insurance trusts, intentionally defective grantor trusts, grantor retained annuity trusts, spousal lifetime access trusts, and generation-skipping trusts.
"Expanding our presence in South Florida is an important part of the firm's growth strategy and landing Drew represents yet another important addition to our office," said Stuart R. Morris, co-chair of Private Client, Trusts and Estates practice. "Successful private wealth planning requires experience and a keen focus on execution. Drew brings us both experience and focus, filling the critical role of listener, confidante, and adviser that is fundamental to a successful family estate plan. I'm very happy to welcome him aboard."
Recognized by Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch in America, Trusts and Estates, from 2022 to 2025, Barsalou also handles probate and trust administration matters and regularly prepares United States Gift (and Generation-Skipping Transfer) Tax Returns and United States Estate (and Generation-Skipping Transfer) Tax Returns. Barsalou is a member of the Florida Bar Association's Tax section and is currently serving on the Place of Hope's Planned Giving Council and the Palm Beach Atlantic University Heritage Society's Planned Giving Committee.
"I'm excited to be joining Cozen O'Connor, a firm dedicated to growing its private wealth practice, both nationally and here in South Florida," Barsalou said. "I believe my experience in high net worth tax planning, combined with access to the in-depth, cross-disciplinary resources of a full-service law firm, will serve my clients well. I'm looking forward to meeting and working with my new colleagues, both nationally and here in Boca Raton."
Barsalou earned his LL.M in Taxation at the University of Miami School of Law; his J.D. at Stetson University College of Law; and a B.A. in history and political science at Palm Beach Atlantic University.
