Muskingum University Ranks 1st Among Ohio Schools for Third Year in U.S. News & World Report University Rankings

New Concord, OH (Sept. 24, 2025) - For the third year, Muskingum University is a top performer among Ohio universities in the U.S. News & World Report 2026 rankings for the Regional Midwest. The University ranked 1st among Ohio universities in Best Value Schools and 2nd in Social Mobility. The University ranked 7th and 13th, respectively, among all universities in the Regional Midwest.

To determine which universities offer the best value for students, U.S. News & World Report factors academic quality and cost after accounting for total expenses and financial aid. The Top Performers in Social Mobility rankings consider graduation rates for students who received federal Pell Grants, financial aid that is typically reserved for those with annual household family incomes below $50,000.

"One of our institutional values is providing access to an affordable and exceptional educational experience that prepares our learners for long-term economic well-being," President Susan S. Hasseler said. "The rankings acknowledge the work we are doing to ensure all our students thrive."

Nearly half of Muskingum's undergraduate students are eligible for Pell Grants, and 100 percent of undergraduate students receive financial aid, which is made possible through support received from alumni and friends of the University in addition to state and federal funds. With financial aid, the cost students pay to attend Muskingum is comparable to that of Ohio's four-year public institutions.

Muskingum continues to enhance academic quality, expand high-demand programs, invest in advanced technologies, and create flexible learning opportunities for all learners. Muskingum graduates are prepared for today's jobs but adaptable to the opportunities of tomorrow.

The 2026 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings are now in its 41st year. The latest edition assesses more than 1,700 U.S. bachelor's degree-granting institutions on 17 factors to measure academic quality and graduate success.
