The Boston Police Department Remembers the Service and Sacrifice of Patrolman Albert Motroni who was Killed in the Line of Duty 100 Years Ago Today

BPD Remembers: The men and women of the Boston Police Department remember the service and sacrifice of Officer Albert Motroni, who was killed in the line of duty 100 years ago today. On Monday, September 22, 1924, Officer Albert Motroni was shot and killed during an exchange of gunfire with a suspect who was wanted for auto theft.

Officer Motroni was a U.S. Army WWI Veteran and had served with the Boston Police Department for five years. He was 31 years old at the time of his death. He was survived by his wife and 5-year-old daughter.

Officer Motroni was laid to rest at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden, MA. His name is located on the National Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington D.C. on Panel 48, West Line 10. His name is also forever engraved on the Hero Wall at Boston Police Headquarters and the Massachusetts Law Enforcement Memorial at the State House in Boston.
