The City was one of only five government agencies regionwide that were recognized last month by the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments (SGVCOG) with an Energy Champion award.
This award is SGVCOG's highest form of recognition for local government agencies that integrate sustainable practices into their operations. Among the actions that earned the City this top designation is the recent updating of City policies to include energy-saving measures, securing of energy-efficiency grants, retrofitting of lighting in the City Hall building, hosting of environmentally-focused community events, inclusion of energy-efficiency education in the monthly electronic EnviroLink newsletter, and compliance with federal benchmarking for public building energy use.
