Meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the Iran crisis: a “Gulf Task Force” created to assist Italians stranded in the region

Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani met yesterday with Ambassadors to Iran and the region at the Foreign Ministry to assess the progress of Israeli and US military operations. The Minister created a "Gulf Task Force" that will strengthen the work of the Crisis Unit and support the efforts of Embassies and Consulates in the region to address the thousands of requests for assistance from thousands of citizens stranded in the Gulf countries. The Italian government welcomed the cooperation that the Gulf governments and their airlines are offering to stranded citizens, primarily by offering hotel accommodations. The Embassies in the United Arab Emirates and Qatar managed to move all waiting passengers from the airports to hotels. There are currently no plans to reopen the airports.
