Governor Sanders Issues Proclamation Declaring a Disaster Area From Severe Winter Weather On or About January 23, 2026

TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS COME - GREETINGS:

DR 26-01: DECLARING DISASTER AREA FROM SEVERE WINTER WEATHER ON OR ABOUT JANUARY 23, 2026, THROUGH JANUARY 29, 2026

WHEREAS: On January 23, 2026, and continuing through January 29, 2026, severe winter weather struck Arkansas and caused dangers, hardships, and suffering throughout the state, which in turn warrants this executive action;

WHEREAS: Adverse circumstances have been brought to bear upon citizens and public properties in the State of Arkansas; and

WHEREAS: These political subdivisions require supplemental assistance from the State to recover from these losses.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, acting under the authority vested in me as Governor of the State of Arkansas, and pursuant to Ark. Code Ann. §§ 12-75-101, et seq., do hereby declare Howard, Nevada, Ouachita, Pike, and Saline Counties a disaster area and authorize Public Assistance disaster relief for these counties.

IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of Arkansas to be affixed this 13th day of April in the year of our Lord 2026.
