Modesto, CA, December 8, 2025 - The City of Modesto is being recognized for commitment to excellence and meeting the highest standards of government financial reporting and budgeting by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). The GFOA presented Modesto with three recognitions for the fiscal year that ended on June 30, 2024:
The City of Modesto has secured the prestigious Triple Crown designation from the GOFA for all three recognitions. This is the fifth year in a row that the City as achieved this designation; only a small number of California Cities receive this designation.
This is a reflection of our City Councils dedication to being fiscally responsible while meeting the essential needs of our community and making lasting decisions that enhance the quality of life for all residents.
"Responsible budgeting is at the center of effective leadership for Modesto," says Mayor Sue Zwahlen. "I know our City Council is committed to making informed, and responsible decisions with taxpayer dollars."
These recognitions acknowledge the City's strategic and proactive approach to financial management of the City's budget. From maintaining safe streets, and City parks, to investing in affordable housing and economic development, Modesto is demonstrating strong financial integrity for our community today and for the City's future.
In celebration of this recognition, there will be a presentation at the City Council meeting on December 9, 2025.
