PR No. 176 Maritime Minister Junaid Anwar Chaudhry calls for unity, economic strengt

Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry called for national unity, economic strength and increased trade to build a strong, self-reliant and prosperous Pakistan.

Addressing an Independence Day ceremony at Karachi Port Trust, the minister said, "We must all play our role in the development of the country," adding that the nation's resolve remained strong and "no one can cast an evil eye on Pakistan."

Junaid Anwar Chaudhry said Pakistan needed to demonstrate unity and solidarity and value the freedom achieved through immense sacrifices. "We must tell the new generation how many sacrifices were made for Pakistan," he said.

The minister said true sovereignty could be achieved through a strong economy and promotion of trade. He stressed the need to further expand regional trade and transshipment activities to strengthen the country's economy.

He said the progress achieved by Karachi Port and Port Qasim reflected the determination and hard work of their administrations. "We must not just set records; we have to establish new benchmarks," he said.

The minister said the ultimate goal was to build "a strong, self-reliant and prosperous Pakistan."

KPT Chairman Rear Admiral (Retd) Shahid Ahmed also addressed the Independence Day ceremony and paid tribute to those who rendered sacrifices for Pakistan's freedom.

He said the nation must never forget the sacrifices made during the struggle for independence and should uphold the values for which Pakistan was created.
