Young Applauds Nearly $20 Million for Purdue to Advance Critical Research

WASHINGTON - Today, U.S. Senator Todd Young (R-Ind.) applauded an announcement by the U.S. National Science Foundation that Purdue University will receive nearly $20 million in federal funding to advance artificial intelligence-enabled scientific research.

The four-year award will support Purdue's Intelligent Codesign Cloud Lab for Non-Equilibrium and Low-Dimensional Materials (ICoN-PCL), helping advance next-generation materials and technologies that are critical to our economic competitiveness and national security.

"Indiana is home to some of the best researchers and innovators in the world, and this investment will help ensure Purdue remains at the forefront of scientific discovery," said Senator Young. "This project will strengthen America's competitiveness, support innovation, and help maintain our technological edge."

Young serves as Chairman of the National Security Commission on Emerging Biotechnology, which has advocated for this type of federal research in order to ensure the United States remains ahead of China.

The award is part of NSF's $400 million national investment to establish a network of AI-enabled automated laboratories that will accelerate scientific discovery across disciplines including biotechnology, electronics, and advanced materials.
