June 16, 2025, Tirana - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi led the delegation of the Republic of Moldova at the Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP), held in the capital of the Republic of Albania.
During the meeting, the Moldovan official emphasized the importance of regional cooperation in achieving the goal of European integration for the South-East European states aspiring to join the EU.
"European integration is not just a political aspiration, but a transformative process. It requires not only alignment with the EU acquis but also real progress in economic competitiveness and inclusive growth - the foundations of a modern and resilient European society," stated Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi.
The Minister advocated for modernizing infrastructure, developing the digital economy, improving the investment climate, and deepening commercial and transport interconnections in the region.
"I welcomed the European Union's Growth Plan for the Republic of Moldova, adopted this year, worth €1.9 billion, aimed at stimulating economic development and bringing the country closer to the EU," he added.
In his address, Mihai Popșoi also discussed the impact of the Russian Federation's war of aggression against Ukraine, noting its direct consequences for regional stability and for the Republic of Moldova.
"This illegal and unprovoked war has shaken the foundations of European security. Moldova remains firmly in solidarity with Ukraine and fully supports its sovereignty and territorial integrity. At the same time, we are under pressure from disinformation, hybrid threats, and instability at our borders," the Moldovan official highlighted.
In conclusion, Mihai Popșoi thanked Albania for holding the SEECP Chairmanship-in-Office and expressed Moldova's support for Bulgaria, which will assume the role starting in July 2025.
