On Tuesday, August 4, 2026, the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing to consider a proposed ordinance that would lower the Cannabis Business Tax (CBT) rate for cannabis businesses operating in the unincorporated areas of the County.
The CBT rate increased automatically to 8% on July 1, 2026If the Board adopts the proposed ordinance on August 4, 2026, the reduced CBT rate would take effect on October 1, 2026. Until that date, the 8% rate remains in effect. Cannabis businesses should continue to collect and remit the CBT at 8% for all transactions occurring through September 30, 2026.
