HARRISBURG - Rep. Tim Twardzik (R-123) and Sen. Dave Argall (R-29) are pleased to announce that Schuylkill Technology Centers has been awarded $74,895 through the Pennsylvania Department of Education's Competitive Equipment Grants program to strengthen career and technical education (CTE) opportunities for students in Schuylkill County.
"This investment ensures students at Schuylkill Technology Centers have access to the tools and training they need to succeed after graduation," said Twardzik. "Career and technical education is critical to building a strong local workforce and preparing students for good-paying jobs."
"I was pleased to learn Schuylkill Technology Centers will receive this highly competitive funding to support the purchase of new equipment for their many different programs," said Argall.
Schuylkill Technology Centers will use the grant to enhance instructional equipment, including upgrades in automotive technology and welding programs, expanding hands-on training opportunities that prepare students for careers in the skilled trades and other high-demand industries.
The funding is part of a statewide $4.3 million investment awarded to 54 schools and career and technical centers to modernize equipment used in approved CTE programs. The program provides grants of up to $85,000 to support the purchase of industry-aligned equipment that gives students hands-on training tied directly to in-demand careers.
Since 2023, Pennsylvania has increased CTE funding by $65 million, a nearly 50% increase, helping expand enrollment and strengthen workforce readiness programs across the commonwealth.
