Thirty-six Wester Nevada College students were honored, including four with special recognition, at a certified nursing assistant course completion ceremony on May 13 in Carson Nugget Hall.
Three dozen Western Nevada College certified nursing assistant (CNA) students were recognized on May 13 in Carson Nugget Hall.
The 36 students completed the college's CNA training course, preparing them to take the CNA certification exam from the Nevada State Board of Nursing.
"Completing the CNA program is an important milestone and the beginning of a meaningful journey in healthcare," said Western Nevada College President Dr. J. Kyle Dalpe. "These students have demonstrated compassion, dedication and a commitment to serving others through their hard work and training. We are proud of their accomplishments and grateful to our outstanding faculty and staff who continue preparing skilled healthcare professionals for our communities."
Several students were presented with special recognition awards: Receiving the Associated Students of Western Nevada CNA of the Year Award was Tristan Ernst Karkheck. Recipients of the Clinical Excellence Award were Gretchen Pachak, Lily Kersey and Paige Frey.

"I am very proud of our nursing assistants for completing their program and choosing a career dedicated to serving and caring for others," said WNC Amber Price, Nursing faculty member. "I hope they continue to grow in their careers, always remaining compassionate, kind, and committed to lifelong learning."
The following CNA training support team prepared these students for the next step: Amber Price, lead Instructor, lab, clinicals; Kali Fallow, instructor, lab and clinicals; Helena Dougherty, Gherke lab instructor; Kat Williams, lab Instructor; LaNae Noel, clinical instructor; and Kathryn Cocking, CNA program coordinator.
