ARN Past President Maureen Musto and Barbara Winters-Todd at ARN's 2025 Rehabilitation Nursing Conference

Encompass Health Director of Clinical Excellence Infomatics Barbara Winters-Todd was honored with the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses (ARN) President's Award at the organization's 2025 Rehabilitation Nursing Conference in Phoenix, Arizona. This distinguished honor, awarded at the sole discretion of the sitting President at the time, recognizes individuals who have made significant and enduring contributions to ARN and the field of rehabilitation nursing. 2023-2025 ARN Board President Maureen Musto presented the award to Winters-Todd.

"Getting to know Barbara more deeply has given me the chance to fully understand the breadth of her impact - on rehabilitation nursing, and on ARN," said Musto. "Barbara has been a dedicated volunteer for many years, serving in so many important roles that span both the local chapter level in Alabama and across national committees."

Winters-Todd has been with Encompass Health since 2006 and has held a variety of roles at the Company. Her diverse nursing career spans rehabilitation, intensive care, home health and oncology. She teaches internal courses on amputee care, spinal cord injury, Parkinson's Disease, and Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN®) preparation.

Nationally, she is a dedicated member of ARN, serving on multiple committees and currently chairing both the Advancing Science and Practice Committee and the Rehabilitation Nursing Certification Board. She also serves as President of the ARN Alabama Chapter.

"Honestly, I don't measure the things I do for the organization," said Winters-Todd. "I just volunteer for opportunities that interest me. Nursing has been my calling since childhood. I never thought about being awarded for doing all the things I love."

Winters-Todd holds a doctorate in nursing administration and education from Samford University, a master's degree in nursing leadership from University of Alabama - Huntsville, and a post-master's degree certification in nursing Informatics from Vanderbilt University. She has also earned her CRRN® designation.

Beyond her professional achievements, Winters-Todd is deeply committed to community service, supporting food pantries, neighborhood programs for children, and medical missions to Honduras.
