Washington, D.C. -
Florida Congressman Daniel Webster, R-Clermont, today voted to pass S. 2, the Secure America Act, legislation that provides long-term funding for border security personnel, immigration enforcement operations, drug trafficking efforts, and programs to combat child exploitation.
"Congress has a fundamental responsibility to safeguard our nation and ensure that agencies tasked with defending our homeland have the resources necessary to carry out their mission," said Rep. Webster. "This legislation supports the brave men and women of Customs and Border Protection, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and Homeland Security who work every day to defend our homeland. It provides long-term funding to hire, train, equip, and support personnel while strengthening efforts to remove dangerous criminal illegal aliens and disrupt transnational criminal organizations."
The Secure America Act provides funding through Fiscal Year 2029 to strengthen border security and support frontline law enforcement personnel. This legislation:
-
Enhances immigration enforcement - provides more than $38 billion for ICE personnel, removal operations, detention support, and enforcement operations.
-
Targets fentanyl trafficking - Invests $3.45 billion in inspection technology, surveillance systems, and interdiction efforts to stop deadly narcotics at the border.
-
Protects Children from Exploitation - Provides $108.5 million for investigators, forensic analysts, victim identification efforts, and law enforcement training.
-
Supports State and Local Law Enforcement - Expands partnerships to strengthen cooperation between federal, state, and local agencies.
Webster further noted, "Border security is national security. House Republicans are ensuring that law enforcement and federal agencies have the tools and resources they need to enforce our laws, defend our communities, and keep Americans safe."
