ALTOONA, Pa. - Students in Penn State Altoona's Ethics and Issues in Agriculture course have organized volunteer opportunities and donation drives to take place throughout March.

On March 5, students volunteered for the Mountain Lion Backpack Program, filling backpacks with weekend meals for students in the Altoona Area School District.

From March 16 through 25, items such as dog and cat food, blankets, paper towels, toys, leashes and collars, cleaning products, laundry detergen, and dish and hand soap can be dropped off in boxes set up in the Slep Student Center and Smith Building. Donations will be taken to local animal shelters.

On Tuesday, March 24, from noon to 1:15 p.m., help clean up trash and debris around the college's Reflecting Pond.

On Wednesday, April 15, from 6 to 8 p.m., help the Trail Sweepers clean up litter in Seminar Forest, across from the Juniata Gap entrance to campus.

As part of Ag Awareness Day on Thursday, April 23, students in the class will present "Petals in Porcelain." Attendees are invited to plant flowers in refurbished mugs.
