Family Creek Activity: Creek Protector Adventure Day, July 24

The City of Santa Rosa's Storm Water & Creeks team would like to invite you to join us on Thursday, July 24, from 9 a.m. to noon, for an educational kids' creek event along Santa Rosa Creek! This event will give kids the chance to dive into the wonders of the natural world around our local creeks. We'll get crafty with leaves and flowers, peek into the microworld of aquatic insects with a microscope, observe birds up close and personal, do a scavenger hunt to follow a drop of rain to the creek, learn about habitat, and make our own Creek Protector buttons. The Sonoma State Biology Department has also generously loaned us preserved animal specimens from their collection for the kids to have an opportunity to get a close look, and even handle, some of the birds, mammals, and insects that can be found on our creeks throughout Santa Rosa.

During the event, our team of naturalists will be helping kids complete the creek protector book challenges to receive fun patches and make progress through the Creek Protector Activity book series. Upon completion, they will even earn a Creek Protector t-shirt! Please note that this is not a drop-off event.
